What was the highlight of Hotel & Spa María Manuela
Great place, but be aware who is staying
It was a great place and location when you are visiting the Picos the Europe. The hotel is in a small village, but has some cafes, restaurants, a small supermarket, pharmacy and bank, which are all just across the road. Also, when the weather is not great it helps when the hotel is bigger and has more facilities. The breakfast Buffett is generous, but make sure you ask the waitress for eggs or omelettes. We weren't told and so missed out.
The coffee is not good since it is filter coffee. Not sure why they can't make fresh coffee from their nearby bar; after all, it was not that busy. Dinner is late, and when we were there, they had no lunch. Luckily, there is a nice restaurant across the road that serves nice daily lunch menus for a very good price. Beware, they have a lot of tour guide operators. So, when we were there, they had about 50 teenagers and more staying. They made terrible noise until about 1 a.m. with shouting, screaming, running down the hallway, and banging the doors, and neither their teachers cared to correct their behavior nor did the hotel staff, despite the fact that they heard it all. We were staying for 3 nights. So, I had to be the bad guy and spoil the party by telling them, as well as complaining to the person at reception. When you go for a hiking holiday, you get up early and go to bed early, so no, I don't want to be kept awake until the early morning hours.

Amazing spa, right on the Picos de Europa ring road
It has a very complete spa (with everything you can think of). The buffet dinner (with alcohol included) at 25€/person was pretty nice. It’s right on the “ring road” if you’re going around the Picos de Europa.
Rooms are in a separate building than reception/restaurant/breakfast and there’s no covered walkway between them. You actually have to bring an umbrella if it’s raining. Also, if you book a room with spa, you the. actually have to book a slot. And, unfortunately, you can only take kids in from 13:00 to 17:00.

Good
The location is ideal, and the staff is exceptionally friendly. The breakfast is quite satisfying, and the overall decor was a delightful surprise.
The mattresses have reached the end of their useful life and have become uncomfortable, potentially causing back pain. Room attendants should be requested to pay greater attention to details, especially in the replacement of towels and cleaning of bathrooms.
